Our History

We are so grateful for God’s blessings on Living Hope Church!
We are a Pentecostal Holiness Church located in the foothills of North Carolina, and for almost 70 years, we have faithfully proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We began with just a handful of faithful believers and prayer warriors in the small community of Whitnel, just outside of Lenoir, NC. We now reach people in multiple surrounding counties and are involved in worldwide outreach with His Good News.

This tremendous growth has brought about many challenges, and even more opportunities. In 1998, we relocated to our current location on Connelly Springs Road. In 2005, we completed a much-needed fellowship and education space addition. Through it all God has been faithful to provide for all of our needs.
After a period of continuing growth we began our third building project: a modern auditorium with space to seat over a thousand people and the technology to reach our community in the 21st century.  Completed in 2022 it also includes a large, welcoming entrance and foyer with a bookstore and coffee shop for our Living Hope families to connect with others. This new building will help us serve Living Hope families and reach our community.

Every step of the way God has been faithful! We are trusting Him to continue to provide as we fulfill His vision for Living Hope. Our purpose is to serve Christ and build His Kingdom in this generation. Our Pastor has articulated our calling in these seven statements:
We have been called to plant churches in nearby cities and counties.
On August 25, 2019 WPHC changed our name to Living Hope Church.
The purpose of the name change is to fulfill our church planting mandate by carrying our new name to other locations.
We hope to begin church planting once our new facility is constructed.

We have been called to reach those who do not know Jesus as Savior.
This is why we are building a new worship facility and children’s worship and classroom area.
This will expand our ability to continue reaching the Unifour area with the Good News.

We have been called to disciple children, youth, and adults to become
fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
This will be accomplished through Living Hope Kids, Living Hope Students, and Hope Groups
as well as the many ministry opportunities provided by Living Hope Church.

We have been called to faithfully support World Missions.
This includes supporting missionaries, building churches, supporting children,
helping with humanitarian needs and sending building teams wherever God leads.
We are committed to fulfilling His call to the ends of the earth.

We have been called to work with ministry partners in our community to help those in need.
Partners like Bethel Colony of Mercy, Caldwell Pregnancy Care Center,
and others carry the burden of helping the hurting.

We have been called to equip our members for ministry to our community.
Living Hope Church provides many outreach ministries, and we are always looking for God given opportunities
to express our love to the people of Caldwell County and the Unifour.

We have been called to raise up a generous church.
We believe God blesses those who give.
“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”
Proverbs 11:24-25
