BAPTISMS

What is Baptism?

Baptism is an important act of obedience that demonstrates an individual's faith in Jesus for salvation.  It symbolizes the washing away of sin and the spiritual rebirth into a new life in Christ. It's an outward sign of an inward spiritual reality. When believers are baptized, they are immersed in water to symbolize their identification with the death and burial of Jesus, and then raised out of the water to symbolize His resurrection.

Whats is the Purpose of Baptism?

Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus  that  affirms a person's decision to follow Christ (Acts 2:41a), to  begin a new life in Christ (Romans 6:4), and to become a part of a spiritual family (Galatians 3:26-27).

Can Children be Baptized?

Faith in Christ alone, rather than age, determines eligibility for baptism. However, for the child's benefit and the church community's sake, it is often wise to wait until they reach a certain level of maturity before baptism. It is important that the child fully understands what baptism symbolizes and wants to make that personal public declaration. We encourage parents to partner with LH Kids and LH Students ministries  to assist their children in making these faith-based choices.
